CM’s Subsidy Push Boosts Affordable Housing Uptake
Puducherry | May 2025:
The Kamaraj Housing Scheme has given a fresh lease of life to affordable housing in Puducherry, as the state government recently announced a ₹10 lakh subsidy hike for eligible beneficiaries under the scheme.

This financial push has triggered a noticeable uptick in sales of EWS (Economically Weaker Section) units, particularly in the Lawspet area. Priced between ₹15–25 lakh, these units are now more accessible to low-income families, thanks to the enhanced support from the government.

Local developers have welcomed the move, noting a 20–25% increase in site visits and booking enquiries. The projects offer 1–2 BHK configurations with basic amenities and are strategically located near schools, health centers, and bus connectivity.

The Chief Minister’s initiative is also expected to improve housing penetration in semi-urban pockets of Puducherry, addressing a long-standing demand for dignified housing among underserved communities.
