J&K Addresses Waqf Property Disputes

Waqf Land Reforms Ease Temple Property Conflicts
The Jammu & Kashmir administration has introduced new rules under the Waqf Act, aimed at resolving long-standing disputes over Waqf and temple land ownership, particularly in urban zones like Jammu.
Over 1,400 temple land registrations have been streamlined through this reform, helping to clarify land titles and create a transparent property framework. This move is already instilling greater confidence among private investors and real estate developers, especially in residential and commercial projects near these heritage lands.
Officials state that the reforms balance religious sentiments with developmental goals, ensuring legal clarity while respecting historical significance. Real estate consultants expect a spike in investment and planned redevelopment in zones previously stalled due to title disputes.
