The real estate market in Aizawl, Mizoram's capital, is witnessing a 10% surge in residential plot prices, especially in Chaltlang, as infrastructure upgrades boost investor sentiment. This price hike is closely tied to the upcoming Bairabi–Sairang railway line, which is expected to be completed by July 2025.

Currently, plot prices in Chaltlang are reaching Rs 15–20 lakh for a 1500 sq ft area, up from the previous average of Rs 13–14 lakh. Local realtors credit the price rise to improved connectivity prospects that the railway project promises.

The Bairabi–Sairang railway will connect Aizawl more efficiently to the rest of the country, driving demand for both residential and commercial properties. This is set to enhance livability, support local economic growth, and unlock new real estate potential in and around the city.

Chaltlang, once considered a mid-tier locality, is fast transforming into a property investment zone, attracting buyers from nearby towns and even from outside Mizoram.

According to market analysts, property prices may continue rising steadily as infrastructure nears completion. Investors are advised to act early, as land availability in prime zones like Chaltlang may shrink over the next 12–18 months.
