The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has officially approved the development of an affordable housing colony in Rajpura, spanning 30 acres. This move aligns with Punjab’s ongoing efforts to address the increasing need for economically accessible housing amid rapid urbanization and population growth in Tier-2 towns.

The colony will include residential plots, low-rise flats, basic amenities, and green spaces, offering a balanced community setting for middle-income families, first-time homebuyers, and local workers. With Rajpura gaining traction due to its strategic location along the Ambala–Ludhiana corridor, the project is expected to attract both end-users and budget-conscious investors.

GMADA officials noted that the project will follow revised planning norms ensuring proper drainage, road networks, and proximity to public facilities such as schools, healthcare, and transportation.
