Ladakh Launches Digital Land Registry

Blockchain Titles Debut in Leh to Streamline Land Deals
Ladakh has officially launched its Digital Land Registry system in Leh, marking a significant step towards transparent and efficient property transactions. The initiative is powered by blockchain technology, ensuring tamper-proof land records and reducing disputes over ownership.
The digital registry covers both residential and sustainable plot categories, benefiting local landowners, developers, and eco-tourism investors. With this move, Ladakh joins other UTs embracing tech-driven governance to boost investor confidence in emerging markets.
Officials noted that the registry will especially support the rising demand for eco-friendly and tourism-linked plots, where legal clarity has often been a challenge. The automation of title verification is expected to speed up transaction times and attract NRIs and green investors.
The rollout in Leh is part of a broader effort to digitize all land records across Ladakh, with Kargil and surrounding rural zones expected to follow.
