J&K Enforces Green Building Norms

IGBC Certification Now Mandatory for New Projects
The Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir has officially mandated IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) certifications for all new residential and commercial projects in Jammu, marking a significant push toward sustainable development.
This move is aimed at improving energy efficiency, reducing carbon footprints, and encouraging the use of eco-friendly construction materials. Developers must now comply with green building norms, including rainwater harvesting, solar integration, and efficient waste management systems.
Officials state this initiative will not only boost environmental responsibility but also enhance investor confidence by aligning local construction practices with national sustainability goals.
