French Quarter’s Homestay Projects Up 12%

Goubert Avenue Sees Surge in Plot Prices
Puducherry | May 2025:
Homestay developments in Goubert Avenue, part of Puducherry’s iconic French Quarter, are driving a 12% price rise in commercial plots. Rates have now reached ₹2,500–3,500 per sq ft, fueled by increasing tourism and NRI interest in heritage-style hospitality ventures.
With Puducherry becoming a hotspot for cultural tourism and weekend getaways, local investors and hospitality groups are aggressively acquiring land for boutique homestays and heritage-style rentals. Goubert Avenue’s proximity to the beachfront and colonial-era charm makes it a top destination for such projects.
Experts believe this trend reflects a broader move toward experience-based tourism, where travelers prefer intimate, culturally rooted stays over conventional hotels. The Puducherry administration’s incentives for tourism-linked infrastructure have further encouraged private development in the area.
As a result, the French Quarter is rapidly evolving into a premium realty zone, blending historical preservation with high-value real estate activity.
