Puducherry Launches Digital Land Registry

Mudaliarpet Pioneers Blockchain Land Titles
Mudaliarpet | May 2025:
Puducherry has rolled out its first blockchain-based land registry system in Mudaliarpet, marking a major shift towards secure and transparent property transactions. This digital registry aims to minimize fraud, eliminate middlemen, and provide real-time ownership verification—offering investors and homeowners a more reliable system for residential plot purchases.
The new platform, backed by the Puducherry Revenue Department, ensures tamper-proof records, faster mutation updates, and direct linkage with Aadhaar-based digital identities. Early adopters in Mudaliarpet have already begun registering residential plots, reporting quicker processing times and increased confidence in land ownership.
Authorities are also integrating GIS mapping to help buyers clearly identify boundaries and land classifications. The system is expected to benefit NRIs, retirees, and local investors interested in hassle-free plot acquisition in the growing Mudaliarpet residential zone.
This pilot initiative will likely expand to neighboring localities like Lawspet and Ariyankuppam, aligning with Puducherry’s broader digital governance push.
