Kanpur Joins UP’s Blockchain Land Registry

UP Expands Digital Registry to Kanpur for Transparent Property Transactions
In a major push for digitization and real estate transparency, the Uttar Pradesh government has extended its blockchain-based land registry system to Kanpur, following successful rollouts in Noida and Lucknow. This initiative is expected to revolutionize property ownership, sale, and transfer processes by reducing fraud, disputes, and title ambiguities.
With the launch, all new industrial and residential property records in Kanpur will be registered on a secure blockchain ledger, ensuring tamper-proof, real-time title verification and ownership history. This upgrade especially benefits investors, builders, and homebuyers, who can now access a transparent, verifiable land record system with minimal risk.
The move aligns with UP's larger PropTech integration strategy, aimed at boosting ease of doing business, especially in rapidly growing Tier-2 cities like Kanpur. It’s also expected to attract fresh industrial investments and improve residential buyer confidence, particularly in areas like Panki, Shatabdi Nagar, and Kalyanpur, which are seeing rising demand.
Officials from the Revenue Department confirmed that Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) will oversee the integration and facilitate public access to the blockchain records via a dedicated portal.
